A Morning at ReadiFood Thumbnail

A Morning at ReadiFood

Last week, members of the Haslams team swapped their desks for packing tables as we spent the morning volunteering at the ReadiFood hub, run by Faith Christian Group.

As a long-standing sponsor of ReadiFood, we were delighted to have the opportunity to see first-hand how the organisation operates and to contribute to the incredible work carried out by its volunteers every day.

After arriving at the hub, we were welcomed by Alison Peyton and Andy Dickens, who introduced us to the charity’s work: supporting individuals and families experiencing food poverty. The organisation distributes emergency food parcels to those who need them most and works with a network of referral partners throughout the local community.

Following a short tour of the facility, we quickly got to work. The warehouse was already a hive of activity, with volunteers sorting donations, organising stock and preparing parcels for collection and delivery. Our team joined in by helping to assemble food parcels, packing a range of essential items including cupboard staples, long-life goods and household necessities. Each box is thoughtfully prepared to provide practical support to local people facing difficult circumstances, and every donation received is carefully managed to maximise its impact.

One of the most valuable parts of the morning was learning more about the challenges that many people in our community continue to face. The Readifood team shared insights into the growing demand for their services and the vital role played by volunteers, local businesses and donors in helping them meet that need.

We would like to thank Alison Peyton, Andy Dickens and the entire ReadiFood team for welcoming us and allowing us to play a small part in their work.
